Anamaria Marinca is a Romanian actress. Her screen debut came with her role in the Channel 4 film Sex Traffic for which she won the British Academy Television Award for Best actress. She can fluently speak French, German English, as well as Romanian. Her father is a theatre teacher at one of the country's top theater schools. She was awarded the Best Female Actor Award for the Year 2000 in The Mangalia Young Actor Gala. The award was given to her as an European Shooting Star by the European Film Promotion Board in 2008. It won her numerous awards such as being awarded the European Film Award Best Actress for the London Film Critics. In 2007, she starred on the Romanian movie 4 luni 3 semaines si2 (4 Months, 3 Weeks 3 Weeks, 2 Days), produced by Cristian Mungiu (4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days). The film was awarded two prizes at the Cannes Film Festival (the Cinema Prize for the French National Education System & the FIPRESCI Prize). Also, she was in the Francis Ford Coppola film Youth Without Youth. She played Yasim Awar in the BBC's 5 episode The Last Enemy miniseries. Marinca had roles in Oliver Hirschbiegel's Five Minutes of Heaven as well as the Romanian Drama Boogie. She later had a prominent role in the 2014 film Fury where she portrayed a German woman known as Irma the aunt of Emma.
